WANT TO BE A BOARD MEMBER?

The Grand Rapids Amateur Lacrosse Association (GRALA) is a 100% volunteer-driven organization.  The purpose of GRALA is to support the players, coaches, and parents of GRALA, in an effort to promote and support opportunities for the growth of lacrosse through a cooperative effort; and to develop resources that foster and support the mission and vision of the program through the common goals of player development, team success, and teaching life lessons. Volunteers are always needed in a multitude of roles that support the Association. We currently have SIX board positions and coordinators up for election for the 2024-26 terms. If you have questions about any open board position, please contact one of the current board members for more information.

Open GRALA Board Positions:

1) PRESIDENT (2-year term, expires 2026) - President oversees operations, assignments, and duties performed by other officers. Primary focus is overall program direction and fills in as needed. The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Association. She/he shall preside at all meetings of the Members and at all meetings of the Board. The President shall have general authority to conduct the day-to-day management of the business of the Association and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Board are implemented. The President executes legal documents, is in charge of insurance and hires/terminates all employees. The President shall be an ex-officio member of all Committees and will have the general powers and duties of supervision and management usually vested in the office of a President of a corporation. The President will cast the deciding vote in the case of a tie. The President is authorized to sign and submit Annual State Papers or any documentation needing signature of approval. Voting Position

2.) TREASURER (2-year term, expires 2026) - Manages Budgets, Tracks Expenditures, makes payments and manages accounts, interacts with our CPA to file taxes. The Treasurer shall keep an account of all monies received and expended for the use of the Program and oversee the Association’s finances. He/she shall deposit all sums received in the bank and make disbursements authorized by the Board or such other Officers as the Board may prescribe. The Treasurer shall make a report at the Annual Meeting or when called upon by the President and shall provide a summary of the Association’s overall financial condition at each Board Meeting. The Treasurer is also responsible for assuring compliance with tax and other regulatory requirements of non-profit organizations as described in the Tax and Non-Profit Responsibilities Policies. The Treasurer will work with an independent Certified Public Accountant engaged for purposes of preparing and filing annual Federal and Local Tax returns. Voting Position

3.) SECRETARY (2-year term, expires 2026) - Secretary is responsible for scheduling meetings and preparing agendas, tracking Board Meeting minutes, documenting official records, and weighing in on issues facing the Board. The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings. He/she shall subsequently have the minutes reviewed, corrected, amended, and approved by the Board at their next meeting following the meeting recorded by the Secretary. Minutes will be mailed or emailed to the Board within seven (7) days of each meeting. The Secretary shall also maintain the Association’s current and historical records, website and perform other duties as the Board may prescribe. Voting Position.

4.) FUNDRAISING & SHOOTOUT COORDINATOR (2-year term, expires 2026) - The Fundraising and Shootout Coordinator will have oversight responsibility for the Shootout, the event that is the primary fundraising effort of the Association, offsetting field, uniform, and equipment costs. Will chair Shootout and Fundraising Committees yearly. Voting Position.

5.) LOGISTICS COORDINATOR (Fields and Equipment) (2-year term, expires 2026) - Fields & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for field(s) and equipment upkeep. This director has responsibility for determining field and equipment needs for all program clinics and seasonal teams. The Fields and Equipment Director shall be the primary liaison between the Association and the city, school district, and private facilities for the request and booking of indoor and outdoor fields, as well as scheduling fields and communicating schedules to Registrar for inclusion on the Association’s website. This person shall also provide a complete inventory of all program equipment and uniforms and be responsible for the purchase, storage, disbursement, and collection of these items. Voting Position

6.) COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR (2-year term, expires 2026) - This director has responsibility for leading and maintaining Facebook and Instagram accounts of the association. Communications & Social Media Coordinator must make sure before sharing any photos/videos on GRALA social media that each individual within the said file has signed and accepted the release of information. NON-Voting Position

To run for one of the open positions submit a statement of interest to vp@grmnlax.com by June 21, 2024. ALL applicants must be in good standing in accordance to the GRALA Code of Conduct during the 2024 season.

VOTING WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE, VIA GRALA WEBSITE ON JUNE 28, 2024, from 07:00 AM to 8:00 PM! We will post and send official ballot information before that time.
